When
I was a child, I lost both of my parents. Even though my family took my
siblings and me into their home and provided love and a
wonderful upbringing, life was never the same. They fostered a desire in me
to reach out to the poor and needy of the world and help them with the hurts
they experience on a daily basis. Not knowing how to make that desire a
reality, I talked with my high school advisor who was formerly a teacher in
China. She encouraged me to complete my
college degree and use that as a tool for helping the under privileged.
Because the health care field interested me, I decided to obtain a
degree in nursing.
After gaining a few years of experience, I went on my
first medical outreach to Guatemala.
After that trip, I knew my purpose in life was to work in
underdeveloped countries. I am
compelled to show the hopeless and outcasts that God is concerned about
them. He cares for them just as
He cared for me, an orphaned child.
